GREG & CATHY'S STORY
A LIFE CHANGED
WE FOUND PURPOSE
Greg and Cathy Gist moved to Longview, Texas from the Dallas area in October of 2016 to be closer to family and immediately started looking for a church to call home. They visited many churches but none of them had what they were looking for. Greg said,
“It was hard to find a church that would even mention the name of Jesus. We were very disheartened and ready to just settle on the last church we tried.”
They were looking for a church focused on reaching the lost, seeing people saved and a place that centered around the gospel and the name of Jesus. On Palm Sunday of 2017, a week before Easter Sunday, they decided to give Grace Creek a try.
“We knew we had found what we were looking for when Pastor Matt made a point after the service to invite people to start a relationship with their Savior, Jesus." Greg said jokingly, “You can get saved in the bathroom at Grace Creek if you stay in there long enough!”
Reaching people is very important to both Greg and Cathy, but the "building lives" part was somewhat new. Greg said,
“Being at Grace Creek has really shined a flashlight on the areas that I needed to grow in and chipped away the flesh and old character traits.” Cathy adds, “We have experienced so much healing not only individually, but also in our marriage. It has brought wholeness to our lives.”
Before coming to Grace Creek, they never knew they had access to the power of the Holy Spirit to walk out their faith daily.
“We have grown more at Grace Creek Church in the past year than we ever have the past 10-15 years trying to do it on our own, and it's all because the power of the Holy Spirit is here.”
