Contact everyone in your Small Group a few days before the group starts to remind them about the details of your group (day, time, location, childcare, etc.). Let them know you are praying for them and that you are excited for the group to begin.
-
Begin praying that God would bring the people to your group that He wants there. Pray that everyone would feel comfortable and that friendships would begin to form. Pray and believe that as you have stepped out to lead a Beyond Kids Small Group, the Holy Spirit will be with you and will help you!

Week One is always exciting! If you have a brand new group, you might not be sure who will come. Some people may be joining a Small Group for the first time. Some people may be nervous, others excited. So plan on spending 10-20 minutes breaking the ice with everyone. Have snacks ready when people arrive and spend time getting to know each other. Set out name tags for everyone to wear. This will help everyone learn each other’s names. Before starting the Small Group discussion, have everyone go around the room and share a little bit about themselves (name, family, job, hobbies or interests, etc.). If you are feeling any apprehension about leading a group during a building campaign, remember your job is not to “fundraise.” You will be helping people go on a spiritual journey to grow in their relationships with God.
